OLPC hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, über Entwicklung und Einsatz eines speziell entworfenen und möglichst erschwinglichen Laptops &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Bildungsprojekte &lt;/span&gt;in vielen Regionen unserer Erde  zu fördern. Christoph Derndorfer hat zuletzt in &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Nepal &lt;/span&gt;am Aufbau des dortigen OLPC-Programmes mitgearbeitet. Dann, als die Abonnements mehr wurden, hab ich nur noch sporadisch dort und da rein gesehen. Heute verwende ich den Google Reader so gut wie gar nicht mehr zum Nachrichten-Lesen. Da kam &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Twitter &lt;/span&gt;dazwischen. Aber nachwievor aboniere ich interessante Blogs und sonstige Feeds in meinen Google Reader und verwende ihn dann als echte &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;personalisierte Suchmaschine&lt;/span&gt;. Ich habe damit ein Werkzeug, das ausschließlich die von mir festgelegten Webseiten durchsucht; allein, es ist auf Webseiten mit Feeds beschränkt. Praktisch ist es dennoch.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Ein konkretes Beispiel: &lt;/span&gt;Eben habe ich das &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;"Communiqué of the Conference of European Ministers Responsible for Higher Education, Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve, 28-29 April 2009" &lt;/span&gt;gelesen. Und dann wollte ich noch ein paar Kommentare dazu lesen. Daher zuerst klassische Google Suche mit dem Sucheintrag "Leuven Bologna" - viel und nichts. Dann Suche in den News. So gut wie gar nichts, weil zu lange her. Via Google Blog Search schon eher, aber immer noch zu heterogen, zu viele Fehleinträge, zu wenig, das auf den ersten Blick interessant erschien. You just had to copy and paste the profile folder - more or less. I now tried the same again for Firefox 3 and I did not succeed now for many hours; I've looked up the web for support, looked for extensions. But to no avail.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But finally I got it and need to share it immediately. In fact it's quite easy (tested for migrating my Firefox profile from a Vista to a XP machine):&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On the computer with  the Firefox installation to be copied:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Open your profile folder (easier whith the add-on "&lt;a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/545"&gt;open profile folder&lt;/a&gt;")&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Close Firefox (that seems to be important)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;One step ahead in the file explorer&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Copy the whole profile folder (named something like rgnrgnrgnrgn.default; "rgn" is a &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;r&lt;/span&gt;andomly &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;g&lt;/span&gt;iven &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;n&lt;/span&gt;ame)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;On the target computer:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Install Firefox.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;(Run Firefox &amp;amp; close Firefox)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Open the Firefox profile manager by typing "firefox.exe -p" or "firefox.exe -profilemanager" in the command line (Start &gt; Run/Ausführen)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Create a new profile&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Uncheck "Don't ask at startup"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;(Do not start Firefox by now)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Find the new profile in your file manager (it's named rgnrgnrgnrgn.newprofilenamefromstep5)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Copy and paste all the contents from your profile folder from the "old" firefox installation  into this new profile folder. Aber es geht wohl - entlang seines Buches &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.de/Studien-n%C3%A4chsten-Gesellschaft-Dirk-Baecker/dp/3518294563"&gt;Studien zur nächsten Gesellschaft&lt;/a&gt; - irgendwie um den Einfluss, den der Computer, das WWW, Soziale Netzwerke usw. auf die Entwicklung der menschlichen Beziehungen im Allgemeinen, auch auf das Denken, soziale Netze und die Liebe, also auf Paarbeziehungen i. e. S., haben. In meinen Lehrveranstaltungen würde ich aber gerne genau auf jenen Kompetenzen, die man den Digital Natives nachsagt, aufbauen. for learning objects, eLearning courses etc. that are designed following a specific instructional model. E.g.:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;self study material based on Merrills Instructional Transaction Theory (ITT)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;an online seminar following a cognitive apprenticeship approach&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;self study material designed following Schanks theory of "&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Virtual-Learning-Revolutionary-Approach-Workforce/dp/0786311487"&gt;failure based learning&lt;/a&gt;"&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;...&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;Repeatedly without success. Yesterday I had a short conversation about that on &lt;a href="http://blog.cathy-moore.com/?page_id=109"&gt;this blog entry&lt;/a&gt; with very interesting examples for good eLearning material. Tagung des &lt;a href="http://www.fnm-austria.at/"&gt;fnma&lt;/a&gt; im November 2007 in Kufstein einen &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;Workshop zum Thema "Betriebsblindheit"&lt;/span&gt; anzubieten.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Seit einigen Monaten komme ich gerne auf dieses Thema zu sprechen und schon beim letzten fnma-Meeting habe ich im Rahmen des &lt;a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Space"&gt;Open Space&lt;/a&gt; spontan einen Workshop zu diesem Thema ins Leben gerufen. (Das auch der Grund für die jetzige Workshop-Einladung.) Das Protokoll dazu gibt es &lt;a href="http://www.fnm-austria.at/tagung/FileStorage/view/14-fnma-tagung/workshops-protokolle//wageneder-betriebsblindheit-15.30.pdf"&gt;hier&lt;/a&gt;; wobei das Thema damals, ganz Open Space, seinen ganz eigenen Lauf genommen hat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Die zentralen Thesen/Fragen &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;(work in pogress)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt; Wir erzählen uns gerne ggs., dass die Studierenden heute die "Digital Natives" wären und dass die Lehrenden oder gar wir selbst so etwas wie "Digital Imigrants" sind. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;Aber haben wir da nicht ein falsches Bild von Studierenden?&lt;/span&gt; Wie steht es wirklich um die &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;Medienkompetenz &lt;/span&gt;der Studierenden? Und wie um &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;all die anderen Kompetenzen&lt;/span&gt;, die für ein selbstständiges Lernen im WWW nötig sind (Lernkompetenz, Selbststeuerung, Bewerten von Inhalten, Verwalten von Informationen, ..., tbc, ...).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Wir eLearning-Expert/inn/en beschäftigen uns gerne mit dem didaktischen Potential der uns zur Verfügung stehenden neuen Medien/Technologien. Ich z. B. entwickle gerne Lehr-/Lernszenarien, in denen Studierende (gemeinsam mit Lehrenden) kollaborativ Inhalte er- und ausarbeiten können. Andere entwickeln virtuelle Labors oder zeichnen Vorlesungen in Video und Audio auf. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;Entsprechen wir damit aber den didaktischen Wünschen unserer Studierenden?&lt;/span&gt; Ein wiederholt zu Tage tretendes Ergebnis in den von mir durchgeführten Evaluationen ist, dass sich die Studierenden vor allem wünschen, dass Skripten und Powerpoints online sind, und dass Ihnen Onlinetests zur Selbstüberprüfung zur Verfügung stehen. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;Wie ernst müssen wir solche Präferenzen der Studierenden nehmen? &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;Und was bedeutet das für unsere weitere Arbeit? &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"&gt;Überschätzen wir nicht den Stellenwertes der s. g. "Neuen Medien" auf die Hochschulentwicklung?&lt;/span&gt; Hängt die Qualität und die Entwicklung der Lehre nicht von sehr vielen Faktoren ab? Und wie wichtig sind da die Faktoren "Medienkompetenz" und "didaktisch flexibler Einsatz" neuer Medien? Die Dokumentation des Vortrages gibt es &lt;a href="http://breezesrv.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/p70041151/"&gt;hier&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In der Folge hat sich &lt;a href="http://www.e-teaching.org/community/etforum/et_newsSelection?catfilter=id5"&gt;hier drüben&lt;/a&gt; eine kleine Diskussion entwickelt. Mein (derzeit) letzter Beitrag daraus:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ich kann mich dem was Herr Wedekind schreibt nur anschließen und möchte an dieser Stelle wieder ein mal dafür plädieren, die s. g. neuen Medien oder jetzt eben Social Software oder Web2.0-Werkzeuge nicht als _die_ große (didaktische) Neuerung zu sehen; sondern vielmehr als eine Ausweitung unserer didaktischen Möglichkeiten und Werkzeuge; ein paar Mittel mehr für eine lebendige didaktische Kreativität vielleicht. Und ich denke, dass man das nicht "konzipieren" (i. e. S.) kann (so wie früher ein LMS). Was man machen kann, ist a) Studierende dabei anleiten nach und nach ihr PLE aufzubauen und b) eine Seite (i. w. S.) bereitstellen, auf der Informationen von Studierendenseiten (Elemente aus deren PLEs) zusammengezogen werden. Denn wie der Name schon in gewisser Weise vorgibt: Ein PLE ist eine persönliche Lernumgebung. Und die muss von jede/m einzelnen Lernenden selbst geschaffen und kontrolliert werden können. Wir Bildungsgestalter können den Lernenden dabei nur helfen, ihre PLEs zu erstellen und zu vernetzen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Und ob das Fenster zur Welt resp. zu den PLEs dabei "Firefox" (den ich selbstverständlich ;-) auch lieber ist) heißt und ein wenig praktischer ist oder IE und ein wenig unpraktischer ist, erscheint mir dabei eine nachrangige Frage zu sein. Im Bereich der Erwachsenenbildung? Oder zur&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Weiterqualifizierung von Berufstätigen in bestimmten Bereichen?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ich denke, man muss hier (zumindest) zwischen formaler und informeller&lt;br /&gt;Weiterbildung unterscheiden. Ohne darüber konkrete Studien zu kennen,&lt;br /&gt;könnt ich mir doch vorstellen, dass diese Web2.0-Werkzeuge in der formalen&lt;br /&gt;Weiterbildung noch sehr selten zum Einsatz kommen; wenn dann in Bereichen,&lt;br /&gt;die inhaltlich nahe am Thema liegen (also bei Weiterbildungen rund um das&lt;br /&gt;Thema Lernen; oder etwa zu Informationsmanagement; IKT-Nutzung; ...). In&lt;br /&gt;der informellen Weiterbildung (also der wie sie m. M. n. viele von uns -&lt;br /&gt;mehr oder weniger bewusst - Tag für Tag betreiben) könnte die Nutzung von&lt;br /&gt;Web2.0-Medien dagegen in vielen Bereich schon beinahe alltäglich sein. Wie&lt;br /&gt;viele von uns haben schon mal zu irgendeinem Wikipedia-Eintrag eine&lt;br /&gt;Ergänzung gemacht oder Blog-Beiträge kommentiert; oder aber zumindest&lt;br /&gt;Wikis und Blogs gelesen und vielleicht sogar via RSS aboniert? Und dabei&lt;br /&gt;immer auch ein Stück gelernt ... aber da kommt Ihr zweiter Kommentar zum&lt;br /&gt;Tragen ...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&gt; 2) Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass die Bevölkerung im Allgemeinen bei&lt;br /&gt;&gt; dieser Flut an neuen Möglichkeiten der elektronischen Informations- und&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Kommunikationstechnologien große Zugangsbarrieren überwinden muß. Wenn&lt;br /&gt;&gt; sogar von Studenten die Notwendigkeit einer hohen Kompetenz bei der&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Anwendung dieser Technologien festgestellt wurde, wie sollen Menschen&lt;br /&gt;&gt; mit geringerem Bildungsniveau damit umgehen? Gibt es dazu Erfahrungen&lt;br /&gt;&gt; oder eine Vorstellung der Bewältigung?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ja, ich glaube schon, dass diese Medien, zumal im deutschsprachigen Raum&lt;br /&gt;(aus den USA hört man zuweilen anderes), noch einem eher kleinen Teil der&lt;br /&gt;Bevölkerung vertraut sind. Ich glaube aber auch, dass den meisten&lt;br /&gt;Bildungsschichten der Zugang zu solchen Medien relativ einfach ermöglicht&lt;br /&gt;werden kann (etwa weil es gar nicht so wichtig ist zu erklären warum&lt;br /&gt;dieses und jenes funktioniert; und weil es reicht zu sagen was es gibt und&lt;br /&gt;was man damit bspw. machen kann. (Ad hoc ein ganz konretes Beispiel: Ich&lt;br /&gt;lege mit meiner 57-jährigen Mutter, die Hausfrau und nicht sehr&lt;br /&gt;IKT-kompetent ist (sie kann halt in Google suchen und Links ins WWW&lt;br /&gt;folgen) einen gMail-Account an und zeige ihr wie sie Informationen zu&lt;br /&gt;einem bestimmten Thema, das ihr sehr wichtig ist, und bei dem sie auf dem&lt;br /&gt;neuesten Stand bleiben möchte, über den Google-Reader ganz einfach&lt;br /&gt;verfolgen kann; das hab ich meiner Mutter in 20 Min. eingerichtet; und&lt;br /&gt;nach weiteren 20 Min. wird sie wissen wie sie selbst weitere Feeds&lt;br /&gt;abonieren kann; ich werde ihr aber nur andeutungsweise das Funktionieren&lt;br /&gt;von RSS erklären (so wie ich es bei meinen Studierenden versucht/getan&lt;br /&gt;habe).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&gt; 3) DIe Evaluierung ist nicht wirklich eine Überprüfung der&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Zielerreichung, sondern eher eine Meinungsbefragung, wie diese neuen&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Formen des interaktiven seminaristischen eLearnings akzeptiert wurden.&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Das wurde im Artikel auch schon angemerkt. Wie wird dieser&lt;br /&gt;&gt; Herausforderung begegent?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Das ist ein wirklich heikles Thema. Sie denken vielleicht an&lt;br /&gt;Vergleichsstudien? Ich aber bin der Meinung, dass diese nicht oder nur&lt;br /&gt;sehr eingeschränkt und in ausgewählten Fällen möglich sind, weil da so&lt;br /&gt;viele nicht kontrollierbare Parameter mithineinspielen (z. B. nur die&lt;br /&gt;Frage: Wird in eine traditionell abgehaltene Vorlesung; ein traditionell&lt;br /&gt;abgehaltenes Seminar gleich viel Engagement seitens der Lehrenden&lt;br /&gt;investiert wie in einen neu entwickelten eLearning-Kurs?; oder die Frage&lt;br /&gt;nach der Betreuung; nach dem Thema &gt; die Themen der von uns evaluierten LV&lt;br /&gt;könnte man beinahe nicht in traditionellen Settings vermitteln). Es gibt&lt;br /&gt;aber über Jahrzehnte zahlreiche Versuche von Vergleichsstudien. In manchen&lt;br /&gt;Metaevaluationen solcher Studien kam man auf das&lt;br /&gt;No-significant-difference-phenomenon, die Tatsache also, dass es über die&lt;br /&gt;Studien gemittelt eigentlich keinen entscheidenden Unterschied zwischen&lt;br /&gt;einem "traditionellen Lernen" (was immer das sein soll) und einem "Lernen&lt;br /&gt;mit neuen Medien" (was immer das sein soll) gibt. And, I have to admit, that this wasn't an easy task. From today's view (at the beginning of this term) I have to ask myself what advantages an learning and reflection ePortfolio-tool (we use &lt;a href="http://elearn.jku.at/elgg"&gt;elgg in our own installation&lt;/a&gt;) has compared to the use of a discussion forum and a wiki within a LMS-course.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only real added value of ePortfolios I can see so far is the one of having a powerful tool for managing ones documents (assessments, reports, certificates, ...) and having the possibility to produce customized presentations out of this repository (like OSPI 1.0 worked). /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;UKOU gets highest grades&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Students at the U.K. Open University (UKOU) have the highest rates of satisfaction, according to a recent survey by the Higher Education Funding Council for England of 170,000 final year students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Overall satisfaction ranges from 4.5 (on a scale of 1 to 5) at the Open University down to 3.5 at the University of the Arts London. UKOU students also rated their institution highest for teaching quality at 4.3. The UKOU is one of the world’s largest universities, with 150,000 undergraduate and 30,000 postgraduate students – nearly all are studying part-time. But why not listen to the 27th lecture on how to implement eLeanring in higher education ...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A shot story about that: Some time ago a member of the faculty of our University congratulated us for our successful way of implementing eLearning-services within our University. I am quite sceptical wheter their use has any positiv influence on learning:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; What are the benefits when having learning content not in one single document but in a menu with short single pages.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; By using .doc or .pdf learners can highlight text, can make annotations, can reuse the content and much more&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Have to look whether there are some empirical studies comparing e.g.:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;fine designed content (using authoring tools) &lt;b&gt;vs.&lt;/b&gt; using .pdf-documents&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;fine designed content (using authoring tools) whithout communication features &lt;b&gt;vs.&lt;/b&gt; using .pdf-documents and a related discussion forum&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;fine designed content (using authoring tools) with the possiblity to make annotations per page &lt;b&gt;vs.&lt;/b&gt; using .pdf-documents with the possibility to make annotations whereever one wants to. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;fine designed content (using authoring tools) including some video-lectures &lt;b&gt;vs.&lt;/b&gt; using .pdf-documents and offering the same video-lectures in addition&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; ... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am afraid, that, once again, all this cute SCORM-/AICC-/IMS-/... compliant content-thing is just another hype. Sure, following the wikiquette, there is no ownership. But this question just came to my mind when I revisited an article in the german Wikipedia on "&lt;a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erziehung" target="_blank"&gt;education&lt;/a&gt;". I've added an alternative definition (&lt;a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Erziehung&amp;amp;oldid=3272121" target="_blank"&gt;see older version&lt;/a&gt;) to the "definition" (it is not a definition) given on this page but the user &lt;a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Aineias" target="blank"&gt;Aineias&lt;/a&gt; removed it. &lt;i&gt;Does she feel like owning this page?&lt;/i&gt; Obviously the definition I've added did not fit the (philosophical, educational, ...) values of that user (&lt;a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Erziehung&amp;amp;action=history" target="_blank"&gt;see her little commentary on the history-page of this article&lt;/a&gt;). Should I now try to re-add it? Where can this lead to?
